P4 2.8 versus Pentium 4 3.0
Taskmanager 3.0
The above picture shows the Taskmanager of the Pentium 4 3.0
Two things are important:
- The overall load is roughly 55%. For a fully loaded CPU this should be 100% (?)
- The top displays consists of two parts, which indicates that this is a 1 Core / 2 Thread CPU. This is also strange beacause the Pentium 4 2.8 has 1 Thread.
Planet1.xls Pentium 4 2.8
The above picture shows the performance of Planet1.xls. with Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz
Planet1.xls is identical as planet1.exe except that the first is supports excel and the second supports Visula Basic 2010.
Both programs are a simulation of planets with a mass zero around a Sun.
What the display shows is that the performance is almost constant.
Planet1.xls Pentium 4 3.0
The above picture shows the performance of Planet1.xls. with Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz
Planet1.xls is identical as planetPP.exe except that the first is supports Excel and the second supports Visula Basic 2010.
What the display shows is that the performance is only constant for a period of roughly 1 minute and then starts to decrease.
This behaviour is identical as the program planets3Dsimple.
Planet1.xls Intel Core i5 M 460 @ 2.53 GHz
What the above picture shows that also for EXCEL programs, which calculations are done using Visual Basic, the performance of a Intel Core i5 CPU is worse compared to a Pentium 4 2.8.
